Pet Fashion

Once upon a time, the only time that you saw a pet wearing pet designer clothing was on television when a celebrity had their tiny pooch tucked away in their tiny clutch bags.  However, now the concept of pet designer clothing is now becoming more mainstream than ever before with everyone from pet stores to local department stores carrying their own top selling brands.

In fact, pet clothes have actually seen a recent surge in sales because the idea of dressing one’s pooch catches on with each new cat or dog seen out and about sporting an outfit since it makes ten other pet owners want to do the same thing. This is just one of the many reasons that trendy pet styling has become something to be noticed and taken care of, because while it may seem a bit ridiculous, once a pet owner sees another dog in a startup jacket they want one for their pet as well.

Plus, there is some practicality to the movement as well, especially for those who live in cold areas where the occasional sweater or winter coat may be the perfect way to make sure that your pet gets some outside time without falling ill. If it’s raining, just pop on a raincoat and your pet is ready to go, allowing you to get walks in on days that otherwise would have been spent at home.

Even in sunny weather, you can keep the spirit of your pet’s designer sense going with a carefully placed pet bandanna or pair of summer booties.  Shoes are also another big selling item in terms of pet clothing, because once again, not only are they cute on most pets, but they also help protect paws from the harsh elements or from the hard pavements making them practical as well.

Of course, if you really want to turn your pet into a fashion maven than you cannot stop at designer clothes, because now you have plenty of additional options. For instance, online you can find plenty of different pet jewellery designs that can be worn as collars, license embellishments (think chain bracelet charms for a collar), and even anklets that slide over a dog’s paw and add that special little finishing touch to an outfit.

Hats, gloves/booties, and scarves also make great additions to any dog’s sense of fashion although beware that a dog should never be left unsupervised with any piece of clothing on to prevent accidental choking.

Finally once you have the outward fashion down to a tee, you have to make sure that the pet underneath is presentable which is why there are now plenty of pet fur stylists that will paint nails, style hair, and even add a few colour embellishments into your dog or cat’s coat if you feel that they need a little help with fading patches.

Even dogs will age and suffer from grey fur, but now with the help of a top notch stylist your pet does not have to worry about showing their age around town.
